Senior Individual Outplacement Programme – Financial Services

 

Background

HDA’s 6 month Flexible Access programme allows clients access to the full range of Career Transition resources for the duration of the programme whilst being led by a dedicated senior career coach.

The client (a former Portfolio Manager of a leading global investment company) wished to secure a new role at a higher, more strategic level than he had previously held, within the same investment area. Alternatively, he would consider diversifying to broaden his investment and management experience in order to prepare himself for a Chief Investment Officer position. The culture and style of a new employer was very important to the client and he was prepared to reject organisations which did not demonstrate the characteristics he was looking for in an employer in terms of ambition, desire to enter new areas of business and appetite for change.

Programme summary

Started mid-year. Summary of Programme Content:

The following HDA resources were utilised by the client:

• provision of career coaching via unlimited meetings focused around approaches to the job market such as marketing to the headhunting community;
• tailoring the cv to suit the various options being considered;
• interview technique;
• analysis of pros and cons of potential positions and organisations;
• support from an HDA executive coach specialising in business networking;
• assistance with how to best to set up a profile within Linkedin as both a networking and research tool

Outcome

The client put considerable effort and time into networking with Headhunters and using his industry sector network to gain introductions to senior executives in a wide variety of companies.

Having rejected a number of possible opportunities due to the nature of the organisations concerned not fitting the candidate’s wish list, by Christmas (6.5 months after programme commencement) the client was offered a senior role with one of the largest UK banks within a new field of work.

This presented a very exciting opportunity to pursue a new career direction with excellent prospects for advancement.

The client started his new role in January (7.5 months after programme commencement) and wrote the following to his HDA career consultant.

“I am very excited about the role and starting out on a fresh career path….I have a spring in my step which is the first time I have had that in a few years. I would like to thank you for all your help. You have been of invaluable assistance and I owe much of my ability to get organised and find a role in a relatively short time down to your excellent guidance. Please accept my grateful thanks”.
