Personal Career Strategies – Banking Professionals (Bahrain)

 

Background

Hosted by CFA Bahrain with support from CFA Institute; HDA ran a series of events designed for financial professionals employed across the financial services sector, across MENA (Middle East and Africa), who were interested in developing the career management skills that contribute to a successful and rewarding career; including increasing their awareness of personal branding, networking techniques, and influencing skills.

Our Approach

By choice or by necessity, professionals often experience several job transitions on the way to the top of their profession. This initiative aimed to provide instruction on navigating such transitions by addressing topics such as CV writing and successful interviewing, whilst encouraging bankers across the region to take ownership of their personal career development strategy.

Modules covered included:

• Personal career awareness
• Maximizing personal career leverage
• Personal branding and reputation (claiming your identity)
• Career change
• Effective CA/resume writing
• Effective interview preparation
• Effective assessment preparation
• Settling in − first 100 days strategies
• The executive search, contingency recruiters, and how to best use their services
• Effective networking techniques
• Negotiation skills
• Influencing skills

HDA additionally provided access to an online career resource centre, including access to an individual 'Career Passport' to assist individual participants understand their current skills and experience, and to assess their future career goals, access to practice psychometrics, and other personal career management resources.

HDA anticipates further similar initiatives across the region.
