HDA has worked in this area for almost 30 years, with significant success supporting senior clients transition their careers, both across the UK and internationally.
HDA’s international network, CareerNet International is especially well placed to support senior needs globally.
Outplacement consultancy is a core HDA business and we work with approximately 20-30 separate organisations in this area each month, supporting individuals and groups at all levels. This being the case, we have developed specific capability around the needs of senior managers, with dedicated HDA resources in place to support these needs.
We maintain networking links with many senior people who we have supported to transition their careers, and this senior network is often a valuable source of new business for HDA.

- HDA’s team has significant experience providing career transition leverage for senior clients, in the UK and globally, providing highly tailored individual support to senior managers who may have highly complex career transition, domestic and financial needs
- As a business involved in business and executive coaching, we bring these skills to bear in supporting senior clients to transition their careers, by complementing linear transition activity such as job search, financial advice and so on with more expansive executive coaching aimed at improving overall (longer-term) leadership capability and networking skills
- HDA’s team includes consultants with significant day-to-day experience working with senior career transition clients, including those seeking re-employment, self-employment, career change, portfolio careers, early retirement, and so on.

Our approach in this area
- Senior Executives need to get results and quickly. They do not want to feel they are part of a process or joining a programme that is not 100% relevant to them. HDA recognises this need in its senior clients and responds accordingly to their needs in the structure of its programmes
- The main feature of this service is that individuals are assigned to an experienced executive career consultant who will work with them to develop a plan to secure new employment or a change in career. This career consultant provides guidance and support to assist the senior client to make best use of the various support elements available within the programme, including access to executive coaching
- As an alternative, HDA has introduced a unique service based around personal coaching. This premium service recognises that Senior Executives who are transitioning their careers require support on a more personal and focused basis. The first meeting is with an experienced Executive Business Coach (who will work with the Senior Executive throughout the programme) to explore the areas of immediate interest and jointly develop a personal plan of action. The Coach then co-ordinates closely with HDA’s experienced executive career consultants to bring in an extensive range of resources to support the individual at every stage of the programme.

- financial, tax and pension planning advice through HDA’s professional partners
